Teamwork
Three new collaborations inspired by nature are making waves this season.
Tectonic Shift
Atlanta-based designer Susan Ferrier has created a 70-piece collection for Baker that includes an assortment of chairs, tables, mirrors, beds, and lighting, all inspired by—and named for—nature’s powerful forces: tectonic shifts, flowing magma, and volcanic eruptions. The collection is timeless and organic, incorporating cast bronze, oak, leathered stone, polished marble, and rich, textural fabrics. The focus on lava and natural terrain allows for an exploration of materiality, and the collection includes four new wood finishes, seven new bronze finishes, and two stone introductions: Leathered Belgian Bluestone and Namibia White Marble.
Sensing a Pattern
Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering explores the next level of biophilic design in the Renaturation collection by 13&9 Design. Renaturation is inspired by the idea of nature reclaiming human-made or developed spaces, and employs fractals for an approach to commercial design deeply grounded in science, design, and wellness. The power of fractals—the intricate, self-repeating patterns that are the building blocks of all natural pattern—has a proven impact on brain health and healing, improved well-being, and enhanced cognitive function. The resulting wallcovering collection transcends aesthetics, creating restorative environments with measurable benefits for occupants. The collection, which includes three styles, Fractal River, Fractal Moss, and Fractal Bark, is PVC free and available in a range of colorways.
EBB and FLOW
Nashville- and Chicago-based designer Amhad Freeman has collaborated with Scott Group Studio to create Serene Waters, a rug collection inspired by the fluid, ever-changing beauty of water. The creative vision of these flowing designs blends the brand’s signature artistry and craftsmanship with Freeman’s timeless designs, all realized by skilled artisans. The collection conveys a serene sophistication that is evocative of the natural flow of water and earth, and will elevate any space with eye- pleasing textures and colors taken directly from nature.
